There are plenty of fishing opportunities, with pike and perch waiting for you.
Lake Nødersjøen, with its pike and perch, is less than 10 minutes' walk from the lodge. Boats and canoes will allow you to extend your exploration to the surrounding banks and islands. Other small and large lakes less than 10 minutes away by car will offer you the same fishing thrills.

FISHING METHODS

Casting or fly-fishing, these two techniques will give you great thrills.

FLY EQUIPMENT

  • The typical rod is a 9′ for 7 to 8 line. The lures to be propelled to fool these fish, are often very long, bulky and waterlogged.
  • A reel with a robust drag, equipped with enough backing (minimum 50 m) is essential to stop large specimens.
  • An intermediate or S1 type line is more than enough to prospect almost all fishing areas.
  • The steel leader is absolutely not essential see sometimes cumbersome. You will prefer to equip yourself with a fluoro-carbon leader in 50 or even 60/100 to face the sharp teeth of medium-sized pike
  • Lures are numerous and as quantitative as your imaginations allow. However, we recommend the Mouche DEVAUX pike lure range which is one of the most outstanding in this field: www.mouchesdevaux.com

THROWING EQUIPMENT

  • A rod weighing 20 to 50 gr is needed to cast good-sized lures.
  • The reel stuffed with a 4-strand braid size PE1.0 to PE1.2 is sufficient. Lake fights offer enough room to not lose too many fish in bulky.
  • The steel leader is absolutely not essential see sometimes bulky. You will prefer to equip yourself with a fluoro-carbon leader in 50 see 60/100 to face the sharp teeth of medium-sized pikes.
  • Lures are a huge debate that we’ll let you settle according to your skills. However, their soft, and other hard lures are essential to convince the most beautiful specimens. Cristal Laser yo Zuri type ball lures as well as spinners and undulating spoons give good results.
  •

SEASON AND CLIMATE

Depending on the year and snow conditions, fishing starts on June 1st and remains good until early October. July/August and September are the best months for catching predators.

fishing area

  • The entire plateau region around Hodalen is worth prospecting as there are so many lakes.
  • The Glomma and its tributaries are not to be outdone and will also offer you some very nice surprises.
  • Beware not to forget that pike is No-Kill on Fly-Fishing areas.
